The enterprise aims to give voice to these women, foster a sense of community, and help them overcome the challenges of isolation and discrimination often faced by migrant women in Australia.

Making a new family from Ghana to Canberra

Sumaya Imoro immigrated to Canberra from Ghana in the middle of the devastating 2003 bushfires.

It was an unsettling start to a new life, and a long road to making this new spot her home.

Crafting My Story: unleashing multicultural womens potential

Two Canberra mums have co-founded a new  social enterprise that aims to empower female artisans and entrepreneurs.

Around ten multicultural Canberra women are currently involved with Crafting My Story, selling their handmade and environmentally sustainable works via a new online shop and two Canberra markets (Haig Park and Old Bus Depot Markets). 

Dr Joyce Das is the co founder of Crafting My Story along with Sadia Afrin.
